So, Sophie, what's this project all about?

"It's simple: to race the Mini Transat 2025, i.e. to cross the Atlantic single-handed on a 6.50m boat without assistance or communication.

What's the matter with you?

"In February 2023, I completed the turnaround of the Refuge Foundation, which provides shelter throughout France for young adults rejected by their parents because they are, like me, LGBT+.

One of the main reasons for these tragedies is the lack of positive representation linked to this condition, which is beyond their control. This is even truer for young transgender people. I want to remedy this by using the immense inspirational power of ocean racing. We all have in mind the name of a male or female skipper whose victory made us want to go further.

How far have you got?

"My boat and I covered 2500 nautical miles this summer, and raced five times. We resumed training in Roscoff at the end of October, to be ready for the 2024 season, which starts in March and will be decisive for qualification.

At the same time, I'm looking for sponsors to finance the rest of the project.

What do you bring to them?

"First and foremost, a magnificent two-year adventure that will be the common thread running through their internal and external communications.

But it also sends a strong signal about the sincerity of their commitment to diversity and inclusion.

And last but not least, access to a young, highly talented and committed audience.

Is ESSCA for life?

"Yessssss! Hail to the best class of 1990!
