Anticipated with the arrival last November of Stéphane Berton (95) as head of the association, Patrick Bouillet decided to take a long vacation. He officially left his position and the association at the end of March.

This is an opportunity to look back on a period rich in change, which saw the renewal of our movement, the structuring of a range of services for alumni and the professionalization of a powerful network working alongside the school to promote the ESSCA brand.

2017: a pivotal year

2017 saw a change of business model and a very sharp increase in the association's budget and therefore resources.

Previously based on annual dues paid by alumni and an endowment from the school, in 2017 we enabled students to join us from the very first year under the format of lifetime dues paid alongside tuition fees (a big change from the previous period when our interactions with students only began at the end of the 5th year). It's been a real success, with nearly 97% of students now paying their fees.

The budget thus grew from +/-120,000 euros to over 300,000 that year (685K€ in 2024-2025), enabling us to "staff" the association to increase the workforce to 4 initially, then 5 from 2019 onwards.

In addition to Nadia Maudet (Assistant), a pillar of the association for 26 years, Delphine de Ghellinck (Events Manager) and Alix de Verneuil (98 - Development Manager) are among the association's permanent staff. The team is bolstered as needed by fixed-term contracts and work-study placements.

With alumni agendas getting busier and busier, and a global crisis in volunteering, it was necessary to be able to rely on a stable team of professionals dedicated to the development of our events and services.
