ESSCA Awards: a very fine 2023 edition
After 2 editions at the Hôtel Potocki, the 6th ESSCA Awards made a stopover at the Maison de l'Amérique Latine. Once again, the weather was perfect, allowing the 300 alumni present to take full advantage of the park.
In everyone's opinion, this edition was a success, and the only regret was leaving at midnight (a time imposed by our host).
A look back at the evening.
A growing success year after year
With a maximum capacity of 300 reached a month before the event, we were assured of a large attendance. Thanks to all those who were unable to attend, but cancelled their registration in time, you were able to help out a fellow member of the family - the no-show rate was therefore particularly low.
We would also like to thank all those who took an active part in drawing up this list, through their suggestions for candidates in January and their final vote in April/May.
With over 800 suggestions and 1,000 voters, the community was particularly active this year.
A committed list of winners
The 20,000 alumni of the ESSCA network represent an incredible wealth of experience. From international careers at the highest levels of responsibility to young and not-so-young entrepreneurs who are changing the world and "atypical" careers, ESSCA alumni make the community shine through their example and their daily actions.
Grand Prix
Sophie Doireau (Class of 2000)
CEO Middle East, India, Africa & Turkey of Cartier
Already a winner of the international prize 2 years ago, and recently honored for its action in favor of inclusion, the continuation of her exemplary career has earned her the 2023 grand prize.
The ESSCAs made no mistake, with more than 20 points separating them from the runner-up.
International course
Adrien Ménard (Class of 2006)
Co-founder & CEO Botify
Already nominated last year in the same category, he wins this year's award, also with a clear lead over his nearest rival.
This Angevin by heart and soul chose to exercise his talent across the Atlantic, and his start-up, a specialist in internet referencing, counts some of the world's most prestigious companies among its customers.
Impact Awards
Olivier Tran (Class of 1998)
Founder of Biscornu
It was his personal story, and in particular that of his son, that prompted Olivier to create Biscornu. This catering company gives a professional and therefore personal future to children, teenagers and adults who are "different", and also, at the beginning of the chain, to fruits and vegetables that don't fit "into the standards".
More than a company, a mission for sustainable development and inclusion. A journey widely acclaimed by the community.
Young Entrepreneur Award
Charlotte Schaedlich (Class of 2021)
Founder JU&N
Her entrepreneurial vocation emerged during her studies.
3 years of conceptualizing, clearing administrative hurdles, investing in R&D, raising funds, launching production lines and developing the distribution network to bring JU&N to life.
Its line of organic, responsible beauty products is now available to everyone.
Atypical course
Jean-Romain Lehr (Class of 2000)
Founder Piano Social Club
With a passion for music, and in particular for the piano during his studies, Jean Romain has turned his passion into his profession. Founder of the Piano Social Club and inventor of a revolutionary method for learning the piano, Jean Romain has put his talent at the service of musical creation, making it accessible to all.
The winners' list was settled in the final days of voting, and the competition between our "atypicals" is fierce!

Prix Coup de Coeur
Arthur de Jerphanion (Class of 2013)
Founder of Tandem
New for 2023, our media partner Les Echos Start was keen to honor Arthur de Jerphanion with its Coup de Cœur award.
Marion Simon-Raynaud, journalist at Les Echos Start, came to present Arthur with his trophy at the meeting.
Tandem, his company's company bikes, is growing fast, in line with changes in commuting practices.
Breathing... inspiration in this prize list
Johann Bayle, lecturer and magician, punctuated the ceremony with 2 speeches using magic to deliver a much deeper message.
He's a regular contributor to the network and the school, so think of him for your next corporate event, seminar, conference or other highlight of your company or organization.
In the opinion of all present, you won't regret it.
A convivial evening... that always ends too soon!
Once the 2023 awards had been announced, it was time for a cocktail party. From the Class of 1972 to the future Class of 2027, the entire community celebrated the ESSCA spirit.
Whether reuniting with fellow students or exchanging ideas with the young alumni who were present in large numbers this year, the school's permanent staff and teachers were able to exchange ideas with the alumni.
Many thanks to Jean Charroin and Benjamin Morisse (DG and DGA of ESSCA Group) and to the representatives of Capessca for honoring us with their presence. A big up to Laurence Le Bott, who is stepping down as president of Capessca after 6 years with the association... but there will always be a Le Bott, as her son Quentin was elected to the ESSCA Alumni Board of Directors at the January AGM.
Jean Romain Lehrr got behind the piano and let the alumni sing along to tunes from their ESSCA years.
The ESSCA years were also discussed, as we invited the Mercuriale 2023 team, who brought photos of over 30 mercuriales, giving everyone a chance to try and find their way around.
A big thank you to this dynamic team who gave us a helping hand with the logistics of the event that evening.
A nod to the Junior Entreprise team who were there in force that day... perhaps to test the concept of their 50th anniversary... To be continued.
As midnight approached, our host pointed firmly to the exit, and despite all our attempts, we couldn't get that extra hour that would have allowed us to prolong the magic of the moment.
Rendezvous is set for June 2024 and the 7th edition... new venue, new format...? We'll surprise you!
