Seabird, the definitive sailor by Hervé VAILLANT (class of '92)
Hervé Vaillant, class of '92
I'm an ESSCA alumnus (class of 1992) from Brittany, originally from Saint-Malo, and a member of the Saint-Briac Yacht Club (YCSB).
A lifelong sailing enthusiast, I'm co-skipper of the SEABIRD , which is about to set sail again for a program of offshore races organized by the Royal Ocean Racing Club (RORC).
SEABIRD is a Nicholsons 33 celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. She is a legendary boat, designed by Ron Holland and built by Camper & Nicholsons, and has already triumphed twice in the Rolex Fastnet Race (1975 and 2005).

Seabird, a legendary boat!
My crew and I will be taking part in some of the most prestigious ocean races, including the 100th edition of the Rolex Fastnet Race, the world's biggest offshore race. This project is a sporting, human and entrepreneurial adventure that is part of a wider ambition: to take part in the Vendée Globe 2028.
The SEABIRD is much more than just a boat. It's a story of resilience, audacity and transmission, and a great opportunity to promote the values of commitment, innovation and eco-responsibility.
SEABIRD is also :
- Partners committed to relaying our adventures throughout the season
- Media: bateaux.com
- Clubs: Yacht Club de Saint-Briac, Yacht Club de France.
- An emblematic sponsor, passionate about sailing: Alexandre Jardin: famous writer and film-maker, founder of the Bleu Blanc Zèbre citizen movement.
Why am I writing to you today?
I'm calling on the strength of our ESSCA network to support me in this adventure!
Two ways to support us:
- Companies, brands & decision-makers: become a sponsor of the project and associate your company with this maritime adventure. Benefit from exceptional visibility, an exclusive hospitality program and high-impact communication (PR, media, social networks...).
- ESSCA Alumni community: take part in our Ulule fundraising campaign to help finance the adventure and join the SEABIRD team! Every contribution, even a symbolic one, is another step towards our goal.
